1. Plants. Do you follow me on Instagram? If not then you haven't seen the new addition to our family. My new Fiddle Leaf tree instantly brightened up my home the second he got inside. I was going back and forth about having a real or fake and I am SO happy I went with a real one. It's vibrant green leaves add such a pop of color to my living room and helps bring in color without adding more decor to the house. Big or small house plants just make people happy. Period. Get creative with them and either hang them or plant them in baskets or colored pots.
2. Pillows. Probably one of the easiest and most cost effective way to change the look of a room. Add a few new ones to your couches or chairs and your set till Fall. If you have solid colored pillows from Winter use those and get a few with a corresponding bright color or a fun print to get a designer look. Don't be afraid to mix patterns too, just make sure each pattern is a different scale.
3. Artwork. There is nothing more fun then making your own art for your house. It's so inexpensive and you don't need to be Picasso to make a masterpiece. Here is a perfect DIY from Danielle Oakey that I will be trying myself this Spring. Have Kids, even better! Get them involved and have their masterpieces featured on your gallery wall.
4. Throw Blankets. Another inexpensive way to add some color and liven up a space. Find beautiful throws at great prices at Home Goods, TJmaxx, Marshall's, or Target. Try to opt for light fabric options like Cotton or linen. Stick to solid color or patterns that are easy on the eyes like stripes.
5. Wreathes. Please do not feel like your front door is the only place you can hang these. Over fireplaces or in the kitchen are excellent places to feature more greenery and another way to add color into your home. Feeling really crazy, try to attempt making one yourself. Here is a great DIY from The How to Mom.
6. Succulents. I don't know why I never had these in my house before. I just bought 5 of them from Home Depot and it didn't even cost me $10. They are perfect for ANY room in the house. I have them on my mantel, kitchen, and breakfast table. And the best part. You can't kill them! That's a win win my friends.
7. Accessories. This is where you can get really creative and if your not careful can go over your budget. Colorful picture frames, gorgeous vases, bunny and flower figurines, nautical themed items, etc... Every home decor store will have an abundance of items to chose from. My tip, have a plan on how you want your house to look whether it be a theme (nautical, boho, cottage, etc) or a color scheme (warm colors, cool colors or neutrals, etc)
8. Flowers. Do I really need to explain?
9. Rugs. I recently moved my shag rug from my living room to my bedroom and picked up a more lighter colorful rug to replace it. Rugs can be expensive but if you have a little bit extra to spend you can still find some great deals. RugsUsa.com ALWAYS have amazing sales, Urban outfitters has great prices and IKEA when in doubt usually always has something for everyone. If you don't want to purchase a big size opt to buy a smaller one like a 9x5 or 5x8 and layer it on top of a larger sisal rug for a designer look.
10. Outdoor space. Just like accessories if your not careful and don't have a plan you will go over budget. If you don't need to buy furniture then you can spruce up your outdoor space with new throw pillows, cushions, umbrellas and plants. So many companies have amazing outdoor items now, and at prices for everyone. My tip, bring colors outside that still go with the colors inside your house. Especially if your making it an extension from your house. Umbrellas should all be one color and cushions all one color. Get creative with accessories like Mexican throw blankets and/or hanging chairs for a wow factor.
